Tessa's Legacy
A Tribute to Contessa Princessa
On Saturday, February 29, 2020, was the first time I met her.
She was weak, broken, and completely uninterested in food or water.
I was afraid if I left her at the shelter, she would die alone.
I called Brad, told him her situation, and he said, "Bring her home."
If she survived the weekend, she would go to a rescue that would know how to care for her.
Then the COVID lockdown happened, panic struck, and we decided to keep her.
She began to get stronger and thrive with kindness, love, and TLC.
She stole our hearts, and she quickly decided to adopt her special person—me.
She was literally a hot mess from her head to her tail.
However, after multiple surgeries, sleepless nights on the floor, and a variety of meds, she began to prevail.
She was spayed, left with two teeth, beat mammary cancer, and her heart murmur diminished.
All involved, including her vets, cardiologists, surgeons, and especially her parents, were astonished.
Thanks to the support of Underdog Rescue, her many 'aunts', and supporters,
She was given the chance to enjoy life to the fullest.
Every day was a blessing, every hour entertaining.
Her scamper was beyond precious, and her love was the greatest.
Tonight, we are overwhelmingly sad to say goodbye to our dear Contessa Princessa.
We are forever grateful for every second of every minute of the 2 years, 2 months, and 18 days you blessed our lives, Tessa.
My Story
My pups make me a more compassionate human every day. They inspired a deep commitment to animal advocacy, especially for the "hard to place" dogs—the seniors, the special needs pups, and the often-overlooked breeds who just need a champion and a chance.
For over seven years, I partnered with the Humane Society of the North Bay in Vallejo, CA. I used my marketing expertise to drive fundraising and awareness, serving as a volunteer, a board member, and an advisory board member. Even after relocating to the Reno area six years ago, I proudly continued my advocacy work for them remotely.
My background is rooted in over 25 years of leading high-impact marketing programs for global tech leaders like PayPal, Oracle, and Yahoo!. Now that I am fully retired and permanently settled in Reno, I am looking to channel that corporate-level experience into local, hands-on animal welfare initiatives.
